A Chat With Tamika Patton

We had a chance to talk with one of R&B's powerful voices Tamika Patton this weekend who gave us a glimpse into her decorated career so far.

I come from a musical family and knew from an early age that I wanted to share the gift that God blessed me with to spread love around the globe!

Hello, thank you for taking time off your busy schedule to talk to us today.

Thanks so much for reaching out! My pleasure...

Tell us about Tamika Patton

Tamika Patton is a Philly native, currently living in Atlanta, GA! Tamika is a lover of all things creative! Real music, real singers, lyrics with meaning and passion in your presentation! I come from a musical family and knew from an early age that I wanted to share the gift that God blessed me with to spread love around the globe!

How long have you been making music?

I've been singing and acting since the age of 5, but professionally since I was 15...

Your latest release " #1 (Remastered)" and the single "God Bless The Child," what's the background and inspiration behind it?

#1 Remastered is a great collection of songs I recorded a few years ago and I'm so glad that a brand new audience has the opportunity to be inspired and empowered by this project! "God Bless the Child" has been a staple on my journey... the single is my musical interpretation of what I feel when I reflect on the many times I've been blessed to walk through doors of opportunity and present on prestigious platforms in life!

How many songs/albums have you released to date?

5 albums and several singles over the years...

How has the current pandemic affected you as an artist and as a person?

The pandemic for me has been a time of reset, revival, and refocus! I've grown spiritually and musically...my creative well is deeper and I can't wait to share what I've gathered along this journey in future musical offerings

Who are your favorite artists and how have they influenced your music and style?

Wow! I listen to a varied mix from Mahalia, Tramline Hawkins, and Yolanda Adams to Chaka, Gladys and Patti, Stevie, India and Ledisi to Celine, Barbara Streisand, Shania Twain and Michael Buble! Lol! I learn from each of them and make it my own... I love strategic tones and textures in my delivery... My musical palate is pretty extensive.

Are you currently working on any new music at the moment?

Yes! New music coming... Looking forward to sharing at home and abroad!

How do you define success as an artist?

Success for me as an artist is when my music is impactful and I see the reaction from the listener...that's so rewarding!

Outside making music what else do you enjoy doing most?

Music is the air that I breathe, but I also enjoy acting, cooking, and traveling...I love to laugh and spend quality time with family and friends...

What is your favorite saying?

"Dreams don't have expiration dates" and "Leave here empty...use every gift God has blessed you with"

We usually don't ask this but our audience wanted to know. Do you have any tattoos?

I'm a clean canvas, no tattoos! Lol

Where can we find you online?

I'm easy to find...
